A developmental edit will include a complete read-through of the document and written editorial analysis. The written analysis will include suggestions for concision, clarity, plot development, narrative flow, and reader connection.
The editor will insert questions to the author and Track Changes throughout the manuscript. Grammatical errors, spelling errors, and punctuation errors will not be addressed in a developmental edit. All grammar, spelling, punctuation, and other fine details will be addressed in the copy edit.
Developmental Editing provides:
A copy edit will include a grammatical and spelling focused edit. The editor will use Track Changes and comments in the document to correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, wordiness, and facts.
Copy Editing improves:
A proofread will include a complete read-through focused on the small details of the manuscript. The editor will read over the entire manuscript, including the front and back matter (if applicable). All edits will be marked by Track Changes in the document. A proofread edit gives the author full confidence in the document's completion before sending it to print.
Proofreading improves:
